1. Most of the drug delivery systems (DDS) are in colloidal state and maybe have a surface
charge (positive, negative, or nutral). Much research has been done in different research
centers all around the world, researchers tried to manupulate surface charge of drug carrier by
modification of surface chemistry or other methods, with regard to introducing positive or
negative charge to the surface of DDS. But there is a question: is there any relation between
surface charge and application of DDS? (5 Marks)

Explanation:
Stabiliy/ Aggregation of the particles: Particles with near neutral zeta potential or mildly charged surfaces tend to aggregate faster, which can be detrimental in-vivo from the point of recognization byt he RES. Stronger the charge, better is the colloidal stability of the particles and hence a longer shelf life as well.
