Given :   Mr Ram Sabarwal invested rupees 18000 at 9 percent per annum ,rupees 7000 at 6 percent per annum and rupees to 2000 at 4 percent per annum.

To  find  : the average rate of simple interest on his investment

Solution:

Let say Time = T

SI = P * R * T  /100

SI = Simple interest

18000 at 9 percent per annum

= 18000 * 9 * T /100  = 1620T

7000 at 6 percent per annum

= 7000 * 6 * T /100   = 420T

2000 at 4 percent per annum.

= 2000 * 4 * T /100   = 80T

1620T + 420T + 80T  =  2120T

18000 + 7000 + 2000 = 27000

27000 * R * T /100  =  2120T

=> R =  2120 /270

=> R = 7.85

average rate of simple interest on his investment  = 7.85   %

85 * 0.6  + 69*0.4   =  78.6  average marks of all students
