1) name the compound formed when ethanol is heated in conc. sulphuric acid at 443k. also write chemical equation of reaction stating the role of H2So4.

2) what would happen if H is aaded to product of reaction in presence of catalyst nickel or palledium.

The compound formed is ethene.
Here H2SO4 acts as a dehydrating agent.

2) When H is added to the product in the presence of nickel or palladium it results in an addition reaction . The product will be CH3-CH3

1.Ethene is formed.
2.When hydrogen is added to Ethene in the presence of catalysts like nickel or palledium saturated hydro carbon-ethane if formed. This process is called Hydrogenation.
