1. Occupations can be divided into following three types:

• Primary occupation, which includes agriculture, mining and quarrying

• Secondary occupation, which includes manufacturing

• Tertiary occupation, which includes services, trade and commerce and banking.

2. Due to increasing population, unjust market intervention, poor governance, medium and small farmers are losing their productive land and becoming landless gradually. Moreover, climate induced hazards, such as recurring floods, cyclones, riverbank erosion are also contributing to the increasing landlessness.

3. Apart from farming dairy, fishing, sericultuter, cottage industry, etc. are the other sources of income in the rural areas.

4. People migrate from one place to another mainly in search of better livelihood and a good standard of living. They also migrate for educational purposes and sometimes due to the negative impact of the environment like pollution, flood and other disasters.

5. The key dimensions of the power system were: the Zamindari system, the caste system and the panchayat village in the traditional power system. Villagers referred to the Zamindar or their caste leader or to the village Panchayat for their religious, economic or other problems.

6. A loan taken by a farmer can make his lose of land. If he is not able to repay the loan he may sell his land to repay the money.
