1.  Name the two main groups of plant.

Plants can be divided into two broad categories:
a) Non-flowering plants (plants that do not flower): mosses, ferns, liverworts, mushrooms, etc.
b) Seed plants (plants that have seeds):
              (sub categories)
    i)  Conifers: Pines, spruces, larches, cedars, firs, etc.
ii) Flowering plants (plants that flower): cabbages, grasses, daffodils, horse chestnuts etc.

2.  What are capsules, cones, and flowers for?

Capsules, cones, and flowers help in the reproduction (of plants).

In most non-flowering plants, capsules are present, which contain tiny spores inside. Plants of this kind reproduce by spores. The spores produce new plants.

As for the conifers, they have cones. Cones are of two types: male, and female. There are pollen grains in male cones; female cones grow seeds under its flaps. When the pollen grains from a male cone travel by wind to a female cone f the same species, sexual reproduction takes place. They eventually reproduce to form new plants.

In flowering plants, the flowers and/or fruits have seeds inside them which, when planted, grow to become new plants if they receive adequate sunlight and water.

3. ans: a) roses - Roses are flowering plants, therefore they have flowers.
            b) bog moss - Bog-moss is a non-flowering plant, so it has capsules.
            c) Christmas tree - Christmas trees are conifers, which mean they have cones.
            d) Bracken fern - Bracken fern is a non-flowering plant, so it has capsules.
