Following are any three  voluntary organisation that promote consumer movement in India:

A) Grahak Shakti Bengaluru-Karnataka working for the empowerment of Consumer since the 1990s.

B) Consortium of South India Consumer Organisations (COSICO). The idea is to share, work together and plan joint action in strengthening the consumer movement in the 6 states like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra, Telangana, Pondicherry and Kerala.

C) Consumer Awareness, Protection and Education Council (Cape Council) based in Bangalore. This organization is chaired by D. Manmath which works for the welfare of consumers.

When consumer buys a bottle without checking expiry details he is making medication Error. He is supposed to look out for the manufactured date and expiry date of the bottle. If the bottle has expired he can claim from the producer for its compensation.

When consumer buys sweets weighed with a sweet box he is making error of paying extra money for the sweets he has not consumed. Controller of weights and measures department has imposed penalty of Rs 10000 for such producers or shopkeepers for such kinds of malpractices. One should check box weight prior to weighing and ask the shopkeeper to add that extra weight in final weight for which we want to buy.

When you don’t ask a bill from your doctor it is mostly likely that you would be charged up for those bills or consultations even which you have never taken. Huge medical expenses can also lead one to bankruptcy. It is always essential that you ask for a bill. Check down for the date, patients Name, Diagnosis details, Doctors name who had treated you and all the other tests which you have actually taken. All these measures help you pay exact amount for the treatment you actually underwent.
