Question :

One of the zeroes of quadratic polynomial (k-1)x² + kx + 1 is -3 then the value of k is

Answer :

k = 4/3

Given :

One of the zeroes of the polynomial (k-1)x² + kx + 1 is -3

To find :

Value of k

Solution :

   Given quadratic polynomial,

 Let  p(x) = (k-1)x² + kx + 1

one of the zeroes = -3

So, when we substitute the value of x = -3 in the given quadratic polynomial, we get 0

         i.e., p(-3) = 0

Put x = -3,

⟹ (k-1)(-3)² +k(-3)+1 = 0

⟹ (k-1)(9) - 3k + 1 = 0

⟹ 9k − 9 − 3k + 1 = 0

⟹ 6k − 8 = 0

⟹ 6k = 8

⟹ k = 8/6

⟹ k = 4/3

║The value of k is 4/3
