Let the sides of the square be X

Then the sides of the rectangle be

X-2 and X+2 (from the question)

Given perimerer of rectangle is 48m

We know that the formula to find the perimeter of rectangle is

2( l+b ) = 48

Therefore,

2(X-2 + X+2) = 48

2( 2X ) = 48

( 2X ) = 48/2

X = 24/2

X = 12

Therefore length of sides of square is 12m.
