Given :-

Out of his total monthly income Mr. Moti spends 20% on house rent and 60% of the rest on household expenses.

He saves Rs. 2520 per month

To find :-

His monthly income .

Solution :-

Let the monthly income of Mr.Moti be

Rs. X

Money spent on house rent

= 20% of the income

= 20% of Rs.X

= 20% ×X

= (20/100)×X

= (1/5)×X

= (1×X)/5

= Rs. X/5

Remaining money = X-(X/5)

= (5X-X)/5

= Rs. 4X/5

Money spent on household expenses

= 60% of the rest of the income

= 60% of Rs. 4X/5

= 60% × 4X/5

= (60/100)×(4X/5)

= (3/5) ×(4X/5)

= (3×4X)/(5×5)

= Rs. 12X/25

The total money spent on his expenditures

= Money on house rent+household expenses

= (X/5)+(12X/25)

LCM of 5 and 25 = 25

= (5X+12X)/25

= Rs. 17X/25

We know that

Savings = Income - Expenditure

=> Savings = X-(17X/25)

=> Savings = (25X-17X)/25

=> Savings = Rs. 8X/25

Therefore, He saves Rs. 8X/25

According to the given problem

Saving money = Rs. 2520

=> 8X/25 = 2520

=> 8X = 2520×25

=> X = 2520×25/8

=> X = 315×25

=> X = Rs. 7875

Answer :-

The monthly income of Mr.Moti is

Rs. 7875

Check :-

Monthly income = Rs. 7875

Money spent on house rent = 20% of 7875

=> (20/100)×7875

=> (1/5)×7875

=> 7875/5

=> Rs. 1575

Remaining money = 7875-1575

= Rs. 6300

Money spent on household expenses

= 60% of the rest of the money

= 60% × 6300

= (60/100)×6300

= 60×63

= Rs. 3780

Total expenditure = 1575+3780

= Rs. 5355

His savings = 7875-5355 = Rs. 2520

Verified the given relations in the given problem.
