Given:

Pavan and Suresh are twin brothers.

The sum of the ages of Pavan and Suresh is the same as the Mayank.

Four years ago the ratio of age of Pavan and Mayank was 3:8.

To find:

The age of Suresh after 4 years?

Explanation:

Pavan and Suresh are twin brothers.

Let the current ages of Pavan & Suresh is ' x '.

Let the current age of Mayank is ' y '.

The sum of the ages of Pavan and Suresh is the same as that of Mayank alone.

∴ 2x = y         ... ( 1 )

∴ 2x -y = 0

Four years ago the ratio of age of Pavan and Mayank was 3:8.

∴   \displaystyle \frac{x- 4}{y - 4}  = \frac{3}{8}

8x -32 = 3y -12

8x -3y = 32 - 12

8x -3y = 20

4( 2x ) - 3y = 20

4y - 3y = 20                ... according to equation ( 1 )

y = 20

∴ Current age of Mayank is 20 years.

By equation ( 1 )

2x = y

2x = 20

x = 10

Current ages of Pavan & Suresh is 10 years.

After 4 years, age of Suresh will be =  10 + 4  = 14 years.

After 4 years, age of Suresh will be 14 years.
