Given :

  • Pemba sold a freeze for Rs. 23200 by making 16% profit.

To Find :

  • Find the would want to make 24% profit, at what price should he have sold it ?

Solution :

  • We know that :

➣ CP = (SP × 100)/(100 + P)

Where,

  • CP = Cost Price
  • SP = Selling Price
  • P = Profit %

We have,

➣ SP = Rs. 23200

➣ P = 16%

Finding the cost price of freeze :

➣ CP = (23200 × 100)/(100 + 16)

➣ CP = 2320000/116

➣ CP = 20000

Now we have,

➣ CP = Rs. 20000

➣ P = 24%

Finding the new SP :

➣ 20000 = (SP × 100)/(100 + 24)

➣ 20000 = 100SP/124

➣ 20000 × 124 = 100SP

➣ 2480000 = 100SP

➣ 2480000/100 = SP

➣ 24800 = SP

➣ SP = 24800

Hence,

  • He should have sold it at Rs. 24800 to make it 24% profit.
