Answer:

1) weight of corn bits peter bought (total) - 3/4 kg

  repacked weight - 1/8 kg

no. of packs of corn bits = total corn bits / repacked weight

                                            =  3/4 divided by 1/8

                                            = 3/4 * 8/1         ( reciprocal of 1/8 is 8/1 )

                                            = 6 bags

2) original price = 980 Rs.

    new price = original price - 35 %

    35 % of 980 = 35/100 * 98 = 343 Rs.

    new price = 980 - 343 = 637 Rs.

3) 10 m = 10 * 100 cm = 1000 cm

no. of pieces of ribbon = original length / length of piece

                                            = 1000 cm / 4 cm

                                            = 250 pieces

Question 1) :- Peter bought 3/4 kg of corn bits. He repacked this into 1/8 kg. each. How many packs of corn bits was he able to make ?

Solution :-

Let us assume that, total x packs of corn bits was he able to make.

so,

→ Total packs * weight of each pack = Total corn bits peter bought

→ x * (1/8) = (3/4)

→ x = (3/4) ÷ (1/8)

→ x = (3/4) * 8

→ x = 6 packs. (Ans.)

Question 2) :- The price of a dress originally costs ₱ 980.00. If the price marked down by 35%, how much was the new price ?

Solution :-

→ New Price = {Original Price * (100 - % down)}/ 100

→ New Price = {980 * (100 - 35)} / 100

→ New Price = (980 * 65)/100

→ New Price = ₱ 637.00 (Ans.)

Question 3) :- How many pieces of ribbon can you cut from 10 meters, if each piece is 4 cm long ?

Solution :-

Let us assume that, total we can cut x pieces from the ribbon of 10 m.

we also know that,

  • 1 m = 100 cm.

then,

→ Total pieces * Length of each Piece = Length of total Pieces

→ x * 4 = 10 * 100

→ x = (1000/4)

→ x = 250 pieces . (Ans.)
