In sentences they are of three types of-

Simple sentences -  A simple sentence is one which has only one finite verb or a simple sentence is one which has only one subject  and one predicate . 
 Ex: The moon was bright 
        The boy ran away  
       Manmohan is a good painter. 

Compound sentences - A compound sentence consists of two simple  sentences joined with a conjunction or a compound sentence is made of two or more principal clauses . 
 Ex: The rain stopped and the match began 
       You should leave for the station or you will be late  
       They rested when evening came  

Complex sentences - A complex sentence consits of one main clause and one or more subordinate clauses . 
Ex: Pay attention to what he speaks .
