We have to find the amount of HNO₃ required to prepare 250 ml of 2N HNO₃. density of HNO₃ is 1.42 and percentage purity is 70% .

solution : no of moles of HNO₃ = normality × volume/n - factor

= 2N × (250/1000)L/1

= 0.5

mass of solute required = no of moles of HNO₃ × molar mass of HNO₃ × 100/70 [ as purity of solution is 70% ]

= 0.5 mol × 63 g/mol × 100/70 = 45 g

now volume of solute required = mass/volume

now volume of solute required = mass/volume= 45/1.42 = 31.69 g
