If the points are collinear then the gradient of the line found by any two points will be equal to to the gradient found by other two points.

(1 - 2x)/(3 - x) = (3x - 2x)/(3x - x)

(1 - 2x)/(3 - x) = 1/2

2 × (1 - 2x) = 3 - x

2 - 4x = 3 - x

2 - 3 = -x + 4x

-1 = 3x

-1/3 = x
