An hospital has 30 physicians. The billing of the patients in hospital is done manually by the clerks. Now the Administration Manager is thinking about adapting computerized patient billing due to
the increasing amount of patients. Two options are available either they can lease their own computers and software and do the billing by themselve or they can contract with a computer service
bureau which will do the patient billing,
The lowest bid submitted by a service bureau would result in an annual flat fee of $3000 plus $0.95 per bill processed. With the help of a computer consultant, the business manager has estimated
that the group can lease computer systems along with the required software at a cost of $15,000 per year. Variable costs of doing the billing in this manner are estimated at $0.65 per bill.
if x equals the number of patient bills per year, S(x) is annual billing cost using a service bureau and L(x) represents the annual cost of leasing complete system and doing the billing in-house.
Then determine how many bills in a year will make both the options equally costly
none of them
18000
45000 bills
O 40000
O 30
