AnswEr:
Question 1
- A series of consumption of food is termed as food chain. Each level of food chain is known as a tropic level. There exist various levels in a food chains. For example for a 3 level food chain, the first level consists of producers i.e. plants, second level consists of primary consumers i.e. herbivores or omnivores and third level consists of secondary consumers i.e. carnivores.
- An example of a 3 level food chain is grass ---> deer ---> lion
- Here grass is the producer as it makes food, deer is the primary consumer and lion is secondary consumer.
Question 2
- Animals which feed on flesh or flesh eating animals are termed as carnivores while animals which feed on plants are termed as herbivores. For example lion is a carnivore while cow, goat is an herbivore.
Question 3
- Parasites refers to the organisms which lives, grows and derives its nutrients from the body of the other organism while contribute nothing for the survival of the host. For example lice live on the body of the humans and derive its nutrients from it. Also organisms such as leeches, ticks and fleas are few examples of parasites.
