Here,

Let the breadth of the rectangle be = x

Then, length of the rectangle will be 4 metres less than five times of breadth = 5x - 4

Given, Perimeter of the rectangle = 40m

∴ By the problem,

=> 2(l+b) = 40m

=> 2 (x + 5x-4)m = 40m

=> 2x + 10x - 8 = 40

=> 12x = 40+8 = 48

=> x = 48/12

= 4

Hence, Breadth of the rectangle = 4m

and, Length of the rectangle = 5x-4 = 5(4) - 4 = 20 - 4 = 16m

∴ Area of the rectangle is = l×b

= 4m×16m = 64m^{2} (Ans)
