Total animals going to river = 1 rabbit + 2 monkeys + 2 parrots = 5

Elephants are not going towards river.
All 6 elephants saw 2 monkeys going towards the river.

Therefore total animals going to river is 5

Here

Number of rabbits = 1

Number of Monkeys = 2

Number of parrots = 2

It isn't included that the elephant is also going towards river , so we won't include it.

Therefore, Total number of animals →

1+2+2

= 5 animals

Answer→ 5 animals are going towards river.
