 = 50\: km + 20 \:km

Given :

Ratnam hired a car from a car renting

agency which charges a flat amount of Rs. x for travelling up to 50 kilometres and Rs. y per km for every kilometer travelled thereafter.

To Find :

How much should Ratnam pay

the agency for a journey of 70 kilometres?

Solution :

distance he travel after he travel 50km = 70km - 50 km

⇒ distance he travel after he travel 50km = 20 km

_____________________

Money he pay for 50km = x

_____________________

Money he pay for each km after cover distance 50km = 20 × y

⇒ Money he pay for each km after cover distance 50km = 20y

_____________________

total money he pay = x + 20y

❈ Total money he pay is x + 20y
