Explanation:

A Traditional formulation (in particular to Ayurveda system of medicine which i dealt with )may contain a single herb, multi herb combination, herbo mineral preparation containing herb and metal/mineral, herb- metal/ mineral- animal product, herb- animal product containing formulations.

In strict sense , a poly-herbal formulation should be called only to those formulations that contains only a combination of herbs. But in general practice, several products that contains a combination of herbs and either processed in animal products or have it as an ingredients are sometimes referred as poly-herbal, which is incorrect ethically.

Ayurveda principals says like substances enhances like things. so do in the present context. Production of Insulin is related to Pancreas . May be similar approach is there in the traditional system of Chinese medicine.
