1. Read the following passage and answer the questions
that follow:
Chandigarh designed by Le Corbusier was among the
initial experiments in designing a planned City therefore
its entire layout is in the form of sectors. It is home to 14
colleges, National level University and a centre for medical
research, the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education
and Research or the PGI. Punjab Engineering College
(PEC)is in sector 12 close to PGI. The original PEC is still in
Lahore and before independence was known as Maclagan
Engineering College. After the partition of India, the Indian
version is the East Punjab Engineering College. Intially it
operated from Thompson Engineering College Roorkee
and now it is known as University of Roorkee.
