The current is directly proportional to the voltage and inversely proportional to the resistance. ... So doubling or tripling the resistance will cause the current to be one-half or one-third the original value.From ohms law v=IR let's consider the following values v=10v, I=2A, R=5ohms..so when the resistance gets doubled i.e 5 X 2 =10ohms.. current I becomes 10/10= 1 amp. So therefore we can tell that the current is halved when the resistance is doubled.
