 \frac{1}{ \sqrt{9} }  +  \sqrt{8}  \\   \frac{1}{ \sqrt{3 \times 3} }  +  \sqrt{2 \times 2 \times 2 }   \\ =  \frac{1}{3}  + 2 \sqrt{2}   =  \frac{1 + 6 \sqrt{2} }{3}

Hope this will be helpful.

 \frac{1}{ \sqrt{9} +  \sqrt{8}  }

\underline {rationalise}

  = \frac{1}{ \sqrt{9} +  \sqrt{8}  }  \times  \frac{ \sqrt{9} -  \sqrt{8}  }{ \sqrt{9} -  \sqrt{8}  }

  = \frac{ \sqrt{9} -  \sqrt{8}  }{9 - 8}

  = \sqrt{9}  -  \sqrt{8}

 = 3 -  \sqrt{8}
