first multiply

( sec theta - sec . sin theta )( sectheta + tan theta ) = 1

( sec theta - 1 / cos . sin theta ) ( sec theta + tan theta ) = 1

here we can change sec theta as 1 / cos

(sec theta - sin theta / cos theta )( sec theta + tan theta ) = 1

sin / cos = tan theta

( sec theta - tan theta )( sec theta + tan theta ) = 1

(a + b)(a-b) = a²-b²

sec²theta - tan²theta = 1

this is one of our identity in trigonometry

sec²theta - tan²theta = 1
