A metal cylinder of mass 20g is heated to 100°C and then dropped into a calorimeter of mass 70g containing 73g of water at 20°C the final temperature of the mixture is 23°C. Find the specific heat capacity of the metal.

Mass = 20 g
Specific Heat capacity = x cal/g×°c
Temperature = 100°c
Water,
Mass = 73g
Specific Heat Capacity = 1 cal/g×°c
Temperature = 20°c
Temperature of mixure =23°c
According to formula,
20×x×(100-23) = 73×1×(23-20)
=> 77×20x = 73×3
=> x= 0.1422
The specific Heat capacity of water is 0.1422 cal/g×°c
