Answer:

a. x = 7

b. x=12

Step-by-step explanation:

a.  Let the number be x

According tot the statement

8x+4=60 (Equation Formed)

Solving

Subtract 4 from both sides

8x+4-4 = 60-4

8x = 56 (Divide both sides by 8 )

8x/8 = 56/8

x = 7

b. Let the number be x

According tot the statement

5/2*x - 7 =23  (Equation Formed)

Solving

Add 7 to both sides

5/2*x -7 +7 = 23 +7

5/2*x = 30 (Multiply both sides by 2 )

5/2x*2 = 30*2

5x = 60 (Divide both sides by 5 )

5x/5 = 60/5

x= 12

Hope it helped
