Let P be the principal and T be the period (in years) and T be the rate of interest.

The equation will be -

P x T x T% = P x 16/25

Devide both sides by P

(P x T x T%)/ P = (P x 16/25)/P

T x T/100 = 16/25

T x T = 16/25 x 100 = 64

T = 8

8% simple interest for 8 years on ANY AMOUNT will be equal to 64% of that amount, which is equal to 16/25 of that amount
