3a+5b=26. equation 1

a+5b=22. equation 2

multiplicating equation 1 by 1 and equation 2 by 3

3a+5b=26. equation 3

3a+15b=66. equation 4

subtracting equation 3 form equation 4

3a+15b=66

- 3a+5b=26

=0a+20b=92. b=92/20

therefore b=4.6

putting value of b in equation 2

a+5*4.6=22. a+23=22. a=22-23

therefore. a=-1

Question:

Solve the Following Simultaneous Equation.

3a + 5b = 26;

a + 5b = 22

Step-by-step explanation:

3a + 5b = 26    ___(l)

a + 5b = 22    ___(ll)

Subtracting (ll) from (l)

2a = 4

a = 2

Putting the value of a = 2 in (ll)

a + 5b = 22

⇒ 2 + 5b = 22

⇒ 5b = 20

⇒ b = 4
