now eliminate .. .

sub X value (3) in(1)....

3x + 4y =18

3(62/17) + 4y = 18

186/17 + 4y =18

4y = 18/1 - 186/17

to make denominator same multiply 18/1 by 17

4y = 18×17/1×17- 186/17

4y= 306-186/17

4y= 120/17

y= 120/17×4

y= 120/68,,
