1. Solve the following equations.
i) 2(x + 4) = 12
ii) 0 = 16 + 4(m-6)

Answer:

I) 2(X+4)=12

(X+4)=12/2

(X+4)=6

X=6-4

X=2

2) 16+4(m-6)=0

4(m-6)=-16

m-6=-16/4

m-6=-4

m=-4+6

m=2

i)  2 (x + 4) = 12

2(x) + 2(4) = 12

2x + 8 = 12

   2x   = 12 - 8

   2x   =  4

     x   =  4/2

          = 2

ii)               16 + 4 (m-6) = 0

   16 + [4 x (m)] [(4) x (-6)] = 0

                 16 + 4m -24 = 0

                               4m = 0 - 16 +24

                               4m = 24 - 16

                               4m = 8

                                 m = 8/4

                                     = 2
