Question :

2x + 7y = 11

3x = y + 5

Solution :

2x + 7y = 11. eq(1)

3x = y + 5. eq (2)

by using substitution method

take eq (2)

3x = y + 5

x = y + 5 /3. eq (3)

now take eq(1) put the value of x in eq(1)

2x + 7y = 11

2( y + 5/ 3) + 7y = 11

2y + 10/ 3 + 7y = 11

take LCM to solve

2y + 10 + 21y /3 = 11

2y + 10 + 21y = 11 * 3

2y + 10 + 21y = 33

23y + 10 = 33

23y = 33 - 10

23y = 23

y = 23/23

y = 1

now take eq(3) and put the value of y

x = y + 5 /3

x = 1 + 5 /3

x = 6/3

x = 2

therefore, the value of x = 2 and value of y = 1

hope it's help
