Given :-

A quadratic equation : 2x² - x - 21 = 0

What does quadratic equations mean?

Quadratic equations means that the highest power of the variable in the equation is 2.

Solving this equation by Factorisation method.

2x² - x - 21 = 0

2x² + 6x - 7x - 21 = 0

2x(x + 3) - 7(x + 3) = 0

(2x - 7)(x + 3) = 0

As we know that if the product of two terms is equal to zero then either first term is equal to zero or second term is equal to zero.

2x - 7 = 0 or x + 3 = 0

x = 7/2 x = - 3

x = 7/2 or -3
