1) The law which is followed in balancing a chemical equation is conservation of mass.

As in a chemical reaction the mass always should to be conserved.

The total mass of reactants = to the total mass of product .

As mass can neither be destroyed .

In a chemical reaction the mass can change the state for ex:-

In a chemical reaction of

H2 + O2 ------> H2O

Here the state of reactants is gaseous but the state of product is liquid

Now balance the equation :-

2H2 + O2 --> 2H2O

The total mass remain constant

reactants{M} = product {M}

2) Fe + H2O = FeO4 + H2

Balancing the equation:-

Fe +4H2O = FeO4 +4H2O
