EXPLANATION.

1) = principle of electric motor.

Electric motor is a rotating device which

converted into electric energy into

mechanical energy.

2) = application of electric motor.

The application if electric motor mainly

included blower fans, machine tools,

pumps, turbine etc.

it is an essential device in different

application like hvac.

4) = functions of electric motor.

The function of electric motor included.

1) = power source

2) = commutator.

3) = Field magnetic.

4) = Armature core.

5) = Armature coil

6) = Brushes.

1) = power source

A motor usually has a DC motor. it supply

power to the motor armature or field coil.

2) = commutator.

it is a rotating device of a armature coil

with a neutral current.

3) = Field magnet

it helps to produce a torque on a rotating

armature coil by Fleming left hand rule.

4) = Armature core

it hold the armature coil in place and

provide the mechanical energy.

5) = armature coil.

it helps the motor to run.

6) = Brushes.

it is a device that conduct current between

stationary wire and moving parts.

5) = Function of split ring.

it is used to reversing the direction of

current In a coil .for the continued rotating

of the coil in the same direction. the

current in coil should be reversed.

Answer:

1. Principle of electric motor:

The electric motor works on the principle of magnetic effects of electric current. It works in such a way that when rectangular coil is placed in a magnetic field and current is passed then it starts rotating which works on the principle of magnetic effects of principle.

2. Applications of electric motor:

  • Used in household to pump water (e.g) from sump storage to tank on top of house
  • Cars, Trains, Bikes: they are provided with a good horsepower as they have to carry a huge amount of load from one place to the other
  • Turbines: they are used in turbines for some movement near the hub of the turbine and as it is a huge machine it requires great power

3. Refer to the attachment

4. An electric motor works on the principle of Fleming left hand rule where Thumb indicates force, Middle finger indicates current, and index finger indicates Magnetic field.

An electric motor consists of a rectangular coil which is placed between two poles of a magnetic field . The arms of the coil are connected to split rings. Now check the diagram , the current flows from A to B using the flemings left hand rule and applying flemings left hand rule again , current flows from C to D. The force acting on AB pushes that downwars whereas force acting on CD pushes it upwards. So current is reversed and it flows in the path of DCBA and hence a commutator in form of split rings is used and hence Ab is pushed up and down simultaneously. Reversing of current repeats at half rotation which gives continous rotation to it. Hence it enhances power of the motor

5. Split rings in Electric motor act as commutator and hence used reversing the direction of current and enhancing the power of split ring
