1. Five characteristics of the parallels of latitudes are:

Latitude is the angular distance of a place north or south of the Equator.

There are 180 parallels of latitudes apart from the Equator.

Each parallel of latitude is a circle.

Only the Equator is a Great Circle, all the rest of the latitudes are Small Circles.

2.India requires a standard time due to the vast longitudinal length of the mainland. As a consequence, there is a time gap of two hours from Arunachal Pradesh to Gujarat. Consequently, the standard time for India has been taken from Mirzapur for the entire nation.

3.Temperate Zone is the most suitable zone for us to live because of its average temperature and experiences four seasons yearly. Explanation: Temperate means moderate or average. In temperate zone the climate is not too hot nor too cold, an average temperature persists which is suitable for all living beings.

4.The earth has 360 imaginary lines called longitude or meridians running vertically between the poles. Each of this are called the degree. So the time difference between each longitude in 4 mins.

5.The Prime Meridian divides the globe into Eastern and Western hemispheres, just as the equator divides the globe into Northern and Southern hemispheres. The Prime Meridian is at 0 degrees longitude, just as the equator is at 0 degrees latitude. Use a time zone map to locate the Prime Meridian and Greenwich, England.
