1. Suppose you and any of your family members stand in an open space facing each other.
Now move away from each other while talking to each other in your normal voice. Stop
moving when you can’t hear each other. Measure the distance between you and your
family member. Innovate a new idea so that you can hear each other in your normal
voice while standing there without shouting.
2. Take 5 same size rubber bands. Stretch all the rubber bands in such a way that all the
bands will have different lengths. Now strike all the bands with your fingers one by one
and hear the sound produced. Is there any difference in sound produced by each band?
Write your observations with proper reasons.
3. Keep an object that produces a sound inside a closed container (a cardboard box or
wooden box or cupboard or almirah). Try to hear the sound when the container is closed.
Then open the container and hear the sound. Is there any difference in sound? If yes,
then write the reason.
4. Take a long pipe of approximately 50 cm length or more. You stand at one end and tell
someone to speak from the other end. Hear the sound and answer the following
questions:
a. Is the sound you hear normal or different? Please explain with proper reason.
b. If the total setup is put under the water, then will there be any difference? If yes,
explain why?
