1. Take two white flowers with part of their stems.
2. In a glass of water, add a few drops of red or blue ink.
3. Put one flower with its stem in the glass undisturbed for 2-3 hours.
4. You will see that white flower taken up the red colour of the water.
5. If you cut the stem vertically with a blade, you will see red or blue colour inside the stem also.

1. Stem has the vascular bundle ( xylem and phloem) which performs the task of transportion in plants.....here we confer that the XYLEM which does the job of transportation of water amd minerals ,transported the coloured water to the petals of flower.
2.Functions of stem :
i) connects root to stem which help in transporting water and nutrients
ii) it also helps to transport photosynthetic products
