Let the rational between the ages of father and son be x.

The present ages of a father and his son are in the ratio 10:3,

Hence their ages - father's age 10x and son's age 3x.

If the son is 15 yrs old now,

It means 3x is equal to 15. Accordingly

3x = 15

x = 15/3

x = 5

The rational is 5. Their ages

Son's present age 3x = 3 × 5 = 15 years

Father's present age 10x = 10 × 5 = 50 years

In how many years will the ratio of their ages be 2:1

Let the ratio after n years will be 2 : 1

After n years their ages. Son's age 15 + n and Father's age 50 + n

50 + n = 2 (15 + n)

50 + n = 30 + 2n

n - 2n = 30 - 50

--n = —20

n = 20

Therefore after 20 years their ratio will be 2 : 1

Answer : After 20 years their ratio will be 2 : 1

After 20 years their ages :

Son's age 15 + 20 = 35 years,

Father's age 50 + 20 = 70 years

The ratio between father's age and son's age is

70 : 35 or 2 : 1

Given :

⬤ Ages of Father and Son are in the ratio 5:3 .

⬤ Father's is 75 years old .

To Find :

⬤ Age of Son .

Solution :

Let :

  • Age of Father be = 5x
  • Age of Mother be = 3x

Now :

As given that , Age of Father is 75 years . Hence ,

\sf{5x=75}

x = 75/5

x = 15

Therefore , The Value of x is 15 .

Hence ,

Age of Father = 5x

= 5(15)

= 75

Age of Son = 3x

= 3(15)

= 45

Therefore , The Age of Son is 45 years and Age of Father is 75 years .
