1. The angle of refraction in a glass block of refractive index 1.5 is 19º. Calculate the angle of incidence.​

Answer:

As we know that from Snell's law,

sin(i)/sin(r) = u2/u1

where,

u1= refractive index of incident ray(say air = 1)

u2 = refractive index of refractive ray i.e glass

i= Angle of incidence.

r= Angle of refraction.

then, sin(i)/sin19° = 1.5/1, because u.air = 1

sin(i) = 1.5×sin19°

sin(i) = 1.5×0.3255

sin(i) = 0.4883522

i = sin-¹(0.4883522)

i ≈ 29.2322°, Ans.
