To find : average score of both classes combined

Solution:

The average score of 30 students in standard VII A is 62 marks.

=> Total marks of VIIA  Students = number of Students * Average Marks

= 30 * 62

= 1860

The average score of the 40 students in standard VII B is 72.5 marks

=> Total marks of VIIB  Students = number of Students * Average Marks

= 40 * 72.5

= 2900

Total Students in VIIA & VIIB  = 30 + 40 = 70

Total Marks of Students in VIIA & VIIB  =  1860 + 2900 = 4760

Average score of both classes combined is  = 4760/70

= 68

The average score of both classes combined is 68
