Answer:

Area of rectangle = 1200 m²

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the two numbers be l and b .

∴ From first condition ,

b - l = 40 ------(1)

∴ From second condition ,

l : b = 1 : 3

∴ b = 3l -----(2)

Putting (2) in (1) , we get

3l - l = 40

∴ 2l = 40

∴ l =20

And b = 60

∴ Area of rectangle =  l × b

                                =  20 × 60 = 1200 m²

Answer :-

Let the number be x

Other number = 3x

According to the question :-

3x - x = 40

2x = 40

x = 20

Numbers = 20 and 60

Area = Length × Breadth

= 20 × 60

= 1200 m^2

Perimeter = 2 ( l + b )

= 2 ( 20 + 60 )

= 2 ( 80 )

= 160 m
