Hard Rocks of Western ghat don't allow Western flowing rivers to widen their mouth into sea, so these rivers form Estuaries whereas Eastern rivers flow through broken hills and mountain ranges. So, they are widened and flow with lesser velocity before entering into sea.

Eastern coast  has low river gradient but there are high gradient on the western coast.

Explanation:

  • The river deltas is a depositional feature that is formed by rivers that deposits its sediment load as the flow leaves its mouth and enters the slow-moving stagnant river and they care of, any types as wave-dominated, tide-dominated and inland deltas.
  • The Ganga Brahmaputra delta is one of the most widely known deltas and forms along the passive margins. As near the active margins the orogenic process causes the tectonic activity to take place over the steepened slopes, that results in delta formation closer to the sediment source.
  • The western side consists of high rugged and continuous mountain ranges of the western ghats that don't favor the formation of deltas. But form estuaries as the rivers are fast flowing.
