Answer:

Given,

Length (1) = 5m

Breadth (b) = 2.5 m

and Height (h) = 1.25 m

(a) Volume of water tank in m3 = l × b × h

= 5m × 2.5 m × 1.25 m

= 15.625 m3

(b) Volume of water tank in litre = 15.625 × 1000

= 15625  litre.

Correct Question

The length, breadth and height of a water tank are 5 m, 2.5 m and 1.25 m respectively. Calculate the capacity of the water tank in (a) m³ (b) litre.

Solution-

Given that; the length, breadth and height of a water tank are 5m, 2.5 m and 1.25 m respectively.

In short we have -

⇒ Length of tank = 5 m

⇒ Breadth of tank = 2.5 m

⇒ Height of tank = 1.25 m

We have to find the capacity means volume of the water tank in (a) m³ and (b) litre.

(a) Since, tank is in cuboid shape. Therefore, capacity of tank is equal to volume of cuboid.

Volume of cuboid = length × breadth × height

So,

Capacity of tank = (5 × 2.5 × 1.25) m³

∴ Capacity of tank in m³ is 15.625 m³

(b) In second part we have to find the capacity of the tank in litre.

From above calculations we have the capacity of the tank is 15.625 m³.

What we have to do is simply convert the m³ into litre. To convert m³ into litre, multiply the given value by 1000.

1 m³ = 1000 litre

15.625 m³ = 15625 litre

or

Capacity of the tank in litre = 15.625 × 1000

∴ Capacity of the tank in litre is 15625 litre.
