Similarly, the life of the cherry tree in the poem The Cherry Tree was also threatened. Goats ate its leaves when it was quite young; the grass cutter’s scythe cut it into two parts; monsoon blight also shriveled it. But the cherry tree endured all these ravages and finally blossomed.
