1) The mass percentage of carbon is 27.28% and the mass percentage of oxygen is 72.73%. Calculate the molecular mass of that compound.

2) Copper Pyrite is the prime ore of copper. It is concentrated by froth floatation method.Give the reason.

The weight of carbon is 27.8 grams

The weight of oxygen is 72.73 grams

Atomic weight of carbon is 12

Atomic weight of oxygen 15.99

number of moles of carbon: 12/27.8

      =0.431

number of moles of oxygen: 15.9/72.73

     =0.21

The molar mass of the compound is

0.43*2*72.73

=62.54 g/mol

0.21*27.8*1

= 5.838 g/mol

Now, molar mass/emperical mass

=  1.5

molecular formula= C204
