Change the direct speech into indirect:

  • The messenger ordered the peon to get out and do not come again.

  • They exclaimed with sorrow that they could not attend the party.

  • Alai told me that he would give me a poetry book.

  • I asked him if he liked my new car.

  • She thought and said that I will get through the exam.

Golden Rules:

  • The tenses change from simple present to simple past, but in last sentence it can be observed that it is not changed, it is in future only because she is thinking of the future and so the tense is not changed.

  • The subject in first or second person on change into third person in indirect or reported speech.

  • Some other requisite changes can be observed.
