Question:

Fill the blank with correct option:

The point of intersection of the line represented by 3 x - 2 y = 6 and the y-axis is .

Answer:

Option (B)

(0,-3)

Explanation;

We know that ,

At y-axis the x-coordinate is equal to zero.

The the point of intersection of the given line and the y-axis will be in the form (0,y).

Also,

The coordinates of the point of intersection will satisfy the equation of given line.

Thus,

Putting x=0 in the equation of given line,

We get;

=> 3 x - 2 y = 6

=> 3•0 - 2y = 6

=> -2y = 6

=> y = 6/(-2)

=> y = -3.

Thus,

The point of intersection of the given line and the y-axis will be (0,-3).

Where,

x-coordinate is zero and

y-coordinate is -3.

Thus,

The required answer is option (B).

Hence,

The point of intersection of the line represented by 3 x - 2 y = 6 and the y-axis is (0,-3).

Question :

The point of intersection of the line

represented by 3x - 2y = 6 and the y-axis

is _____.

AnswEr :

As The Statement States that it is the point of Intersection, So y-axis will be must in the form of ( 0 , y ).

So let's put the value of x = 0 in the Equation:

⇒ 3x - 2y = 6

⇒ (3 × 0) - 2y = 6

⇒ 0 - 2y = 6

⇒ - 2y = 6

⇒ y = - 6 / 2

y = - 3

• So the Point of Intersection will be at:

  • x Coordinate will be 0
  • y coordinate will be - 3

Correct Option will be [B] ( 0 , -3 )
