Step-by-step explanation:

given:

1) the ratio of two sides of a parallelogram is 4:3 if its perimeter is 63 cm find the lengths of its sides.

2) the perimeter of a parallelogram if one of the sides is 140cm if one of the side is longer than the other by 10 cm find the length of each of its sides.

to find :

1)find the lengths of its sides

2)the length of each of its sides.

solution :

  • let the lengths of two sides of the parallelogram be 4x cm and 3x cm respectively

  • → its perimeter = 2(4x + 3x) cm = 8x + 6x = 14x cm.

  • :: 14x = 63 ⇒ x = 63/14 = 4.5

  • .. one side = (4 x 4) cm = 16 cm and other side (3 x 4) cm = 12 cm.

  • let the one side of parallelogram is = x and

  • second = (x + 10 )

  • now

  • perimeter = 2 * (a+b)

  • where a and b are two non parallel sides.

  • => 140 = 2 x [x + (x +10)]

  • => 140 = 2x (2x + 10)

  • => 70 = 2x +10

  • => 2x = 60

  • => x = 30

  • one side of parallelogram is 30 cm = and other side = 30 + 10 = 40 cm
