I) The revolt was started buy the Indian Soldiers in the service of East India Company, it soon spread to different parts of the country.

II) Different sections of the society like peasants, artisans, soldiers, educated Indiana and many Indian rulers joined hands to fight heroically against the foreign rulers.

III) Hindus and Muslims also came together to oppose the foreign domination.
